1. What cutlery items did soldier’s use? (‘Cutlery’ means things you use to eat your food).

ANSWER: Spoons and knives (but not forks).

2. This is quite a well-made modern replica but do you think real Roman spoons were made as neat and tidy as ours?

ANSWER: No, they would have looked similar but would have been rougher and not as well finished.

3. How difficult do you think it would be to eat your food without a fork?

ANSWER: This one is up to you but we think for some foods it would have been very difficult indeed! Imagine trying to cut a steak without holding it down with a fork!
